GattiHR, a leading talent solutions company and the country’s largest HR specialized search firm, announced that it is using its high-velocity recruiting and training platform TalentBoost to help a global public utility company quickly fill a pressing need—more offshore wind turbine operators.
TalentBoost will source, train and onboard hundreds of qualified technicians to work 15 miles off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard at Vineyard Wind 1, an 800-megawatt project under construction and the country’s first utility-scale offshore wind energy project. The venture represents the start of a major energy transition in New England and the entire U.S., with TalentBoost hand-delivering the qualified workforce project leaders need.
“Like the California Gold Rush at Sutter’s Mill in the mid-1800s, offshore wind is seen as the next frontier of renewable energy,” said GattiHR CEO J.L. Baker. “With the right workforce, this venture will provide enough power for more than 400,000 homes, and it will become the first of many planned projects to help the country hit its target of 30 gigawatts of offshore energy by the end of the decade.”
But there aren’t yet enough workers to get the job done. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, wind turbine technicians will experience the highest surge in job growth over the next 10 years. However, a glaring talent deficit remains: There are fewer than 7,000wind technicians nationwide.
“Equipped with industry-leading technology and decades of HR and recruiting experience, TalentBoost is uniquely positioned to help our partners at Vineyard Wind 1 and elsewhere overcome this talent shortfall as the demand for wind turbines, particularly offshore, increases,” Baker said.
Here is a sampling of how GattiHR’s TalentBoost will help its renewable offshore energy partners find the multifaceted workforce its needs fast:
Utilize advanced digital technology to create a widespread “surgical” approach that will allow TalentBoost to reach all prospective workforce audiences—in every geographical location—in a more accelerated way.
Tap into reskilling opportunities in other energy sectors, including onshore wind production and traditional energy production like oil, coal and natural gas.
Use thousands of in-depth, high-quality courses from more than 130 global partners to accelerate retraining and speed to productivity.
Educate grade school children about the well-paying, career-fulfilling advantages of offshore wind energy and the opportunities that soon await after graduation.
Automate the sourcing, recruiting, accessing, hiring and onboarding process, freeing human resources departments to better allocate their time and priorities.
