Reporting to the Sr. Director, Benefit Services and Administration (BSA), the Director is a key member of the BSA leadership team, partnering across BSA units to foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment. With primary responsibility for the management and development of a team of BSA Associate Directors, the Director is accountable for leadership and oversight of the day-to-day policies and practices, management and effective delivery of Cornell’s employee benefits programs, employee communications, and customer service practices. The Director provides input into the strategic direction and design of Cornell’s benefit programs as well as drives changes necessary to implement best practices and optimal business processes.
The Director provides managerial direction to a team of 4-6 Associate Directors who are responsible for the implementation, administration, and communication of these benefit programs and plans. The Director monitors legislation to keep abreast of changes and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The Director also serves as a representative of BSA throughout the University and with vendors, and serves as a back-up for the Sr. Director BSA, as appropriate.
Through process review and improvement, budget monitoring, and strategic research, the Director supports the administration of benefit programs and plans, gathers valuable market and trend information, and recommends new strategies or modifications to benefit plan policies and procedures.
